Lium was founded in 2021 by Guilain and Thomas, two engineers passionate about technology. Together, they created Horus, an autonomous tethered balloon capable of continuously monitoring SEVESO-classified sensitive industrial sites.

In 2024, Lium raised €800,000 to accelerate the development and commercialization of Horus, its autonomous tethered balloon dedicated to monitoring sensitive industrial sites. This fundraising round was supported by Ava Capital, Valeureux, Aerospace Angels, as well as descendants of the Montgolfier brothers, and was backed by BPI, BNP, and CIC.
Lium is currently in an active research and development (R&D) phase to optimize Horus, its autonomous tethered balloon. The objective is clear: to offer a reliable, high-performance, and easy-to-deploy industrial monitoring solution. The team is following a step-by-step testing strategy to validate each component.
